Returned from Denver - made an impact at Regis University

I just returned from Denver after spending a week in a Summer Intensive leadership course for my Masters in Business Administration degree.  I received this very gracious e-mail from my instructor of the week.  Apparently simply through my presence and personality I made an impact.  Prior to my arrival there were many who were very nervous about how they would deal with a quadriplegic student, but quickly learned it was really no big deal.

Thank you to everyone at Regis who was helpful and attempted to make the week go by as smoothly as possible!

-Mark

Got it, Mark. I trust your return was uneventful?

I was reflecting on the week...we are indebted to you on many levels: your contributions to the successful delivery of the course; your unambiguous approach to being part of the group(s); your courage and determination to even be present.

I intend that Regis University also learn of its debt to you. Our abilities make us remarkable in many ways; our awareness of each other's abilities can be a profound source of growth.

I trust those at Regis who are, and who become aware of your time with us, will remember your abilities as we [surely must] seek to be open to all students!

FW: Tell Your Senators in Person -- Vote PRO-CURES!

Give your local senator a call and let them know that they should pass this stem cell research enhancement act when it is considered later this month just like the House of Representatives did in May!

The puzzle pieces are all there, we just need to assemble the puzzle!

CRPF Action Alert

REMINDER:
Your Senators are in your state until July 11th!

This may be your last chance  to remind them:

VOTE PRO-CURES
PASS H.R. 810
NO AMENDMENTS!

As you know, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has committed to considering the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (H.R. 810) this month.  Our window of opportunity is short – the bill could be voted on as early as next week, July 12th, or any time before July 29th.   Now is the time to build on the bipartisan support from the House and confirm the victory in the Senate.  I'm writing to urge you to meet with your Senators before they return to the Senate July 11th!

Here are the latest details:  our hope is that the Senate will vote on the same bill that was passed in the House,
H.R. 810, with no amendments.  We need your help to send this bill to the White House with the greatest support possible, to show the President that the overwhelming majority of Americans want this bill to become law!

It is no exaggeration to say that we are closer to enacting this legislation than we've ever been.  Your voice can help push us over the top.

Again, here is the Short List of what you can do to let your Senators know you support expanding the current policy in favor of further embryonic stem cell research:

  1. Contact your two Senators' local offices.   Try to see your Senators in person and tell them your personal reason to vote for embryonic stem cell research.
  1. Be visible!  Find out where your Senators will make public appearances.  Then show up with large hand-made signs and banners urging a "yes" vote for stem cell research -- H.R. 810 -- with no amendments!
  1. Write a Letter to the Editor to your local paper.  This will have the double impact of showing the support on this issue to the community and insuring that your Senators and their staffs see what you have to say – they will read them.  A sample letter can be found on the Parkinsons Action Network website.
  1. Fax letters, send emails, make phone calls , and tell your Senators the reason YOU think they should vote for embryonic stem cell research.

Your actions are noted and recorded by the staff members in each Senate office.  You can make a difference!

Every Senator needs to hear from the paralysis community even if the Senator already supports stem cell research.  We need to make the PRO-CURES movement visible in this country to everyone.  A strong victory in the Senate will bring unprecedented pressure to bear on the White House to sign this into law!

With your help -- as you have given it in the past -- we will win in the end.

Thank you for all you are doing!
